Texas residency
Under Texas state law, an applicant or enrolled student is classified either as a Texas resident, a non-Texas resident, or a foreign student. This classification impacts your eligibility for resident tuition and financial aid.
An individual's residency classification is based on information from his or her application for admission. As a student, it is your responsiblity to register under the proper residency classification, and any change in residency status must be reported to the Office of Admissions.
To qualify for Texas residency, you must reside in Texas for at least one year and establish a domicile in Texas prior to enrollment. An applicant or student who is claimed as a dependent on a parent's most recent federal tax return will be classified based on the parent's qualifications for residency. International students eligible to establish legal domicile in Texas may also qualify for Texas resident status.
If you are classified as a non-resident and wishes to be considered for reclassification as a resident, you must submit the Core Residency Questionnaire below to the Office of Admissions.
