Admission instructions for freshman-transfer students
Applying for admission as a freshman-transfer
A student applying for admission to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi as a freshman-transfer student is:
- a citizen or permanent resident of the United States; someone who has applied for permanent residency; or who qualifies for Texas residency based on Senate Bill 1528;
- an applicant that has or is already attending a college or university and will have earned 1-29 transferable college credit hours at the time of their transfer. Please note that no remedial or duplicate credits may be transferred.
Application Process
In order to be considered for admission, you must submit the following items:
- A completed ApplyTexas U.S. Freshman Application for Admission
- A $25.00 non-refundable application fee
- Official high school transcript or GED certificate
- SAT or ACT scores, sent directly from the testing agency (SAT code number: 0366; ACT code number: 4045)
- Official college transcript(s) from all institutions attended (if applicable)
Other documents recommended for submission (but not required) include: Letter(s) of recommendation, Resume, Essay, Personal statement, and/or Special circumstances.
Application Deadlines
To ensure full consideration, all documents and items required for admission must be submitted to the Office of Admissions by the deadlines posted below. Documents and items received after the deadline but before the beginning of regular class registration will be processed subject to available space.
- Spring semester: November 1
- Summer I/II semester: April 1
- Fall semester: July 1
Texas Success Initiative
Though not required to gain admission, all students who intend to enroll at A&M-Corpus Christi must submit proof of assessment or exemption to our University to meet requirements set forth under the Texas Success Initiative. Under the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), all undergraduate students entering a Texas public institution of higher education must be assessed for readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework. Admission Requirements
All freshman-transfer have at least a cumulative grade point average of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and be eligible to return to the institution at which they were previously enrolled. The cumulative GPA includes all work attempted, excluding remedial, high school, or duplicate courses.
Applicants must also meet the following high school academic preparedness requirements:
NOTE: It is recommended that students have at least 1 credit in computer literacy. Competency is required prior to graduation from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Credit for International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD)
In keeping with Senate Bill 111, our University grants credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) exams with certain required scores to incoming freshmen students. Texas institutions of higher education must award at least 24 semester credit hours in appropriate subject areas on all IB exams with scores of 4 or above, as long as the incoming freshman has earned an IBD. Gaining Admission to A&M-Corpus Christi
Applicants that have met the criteria noted above may obtain automatic admission to the University by meeting the Regular Admission Requirements below. Those applicants who do not meet these standards will be considered for admission under our Alternative Admission Procedure.
The SAT scores reflected in the two tables below include the combination of the Critical Reading and Math Sections. Our current test score requirements do not include the writing section component.

Alternative Admission Procedure
If you do not meet the Automatic Admission Requirements outlined above, your application will be considered under our Alternative Admission Procedure. Our Undergraduate Admissions Committee will review your application and will consider other factors in addition to your class rank and standardized test scores. Factors considered include extracurricular activities, community service, talents and awards, extenuating circumstances, employment, internships, and summer activities. Applications reviewed under this procedure are considered on a case-by-case basis.
