Testing & test scores

To be considered for admission, you must submit official standardized test scores from either the SAT Reasoning examination or the ACT examination to the Office of Recruitment and  Admissions.

Good things to know

  • Our University does not have a preference as to which test you take or submit scores from.
  • We do not use the SAT Writing scores in our admission decisions (we only look at the Reading and Math portions).
  • We don't accept any SAT Subject test scores.
  • It is recommended that you begin testing your junior year so that you can apply/gain admission earlier in the fall.

Texas Success Initiative
Though not required to gain admission, if you intend to enroll at A&M-Corpus Christi you must submit proof of assessment or exemption to our University to meet requirements set forth under the Texas Success Initiative. Under the Texas Success Initiative (TSI), all undergraduate students entering a Texas public institution of higher education must be assessed for readiness to enroll in freshman-level academic coursework. Please consult our Academic Testing web site for more information.

Credit for International Baccalaureate Diploma (IBD)
In keeping with Senate Bill 111, our University grants credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) exams with certain required scores to incoming freshmen students. Texas institutions of higher education must award at least 24 semester credit hours in appropriate subject areas on all IB exams with scores of 4 or above, as long as the incoming freshman has earned an IBD. Click here to view our IBD Credit Chart, or contact the Office of Recruitment and  Admissions for more information.
